Proving she's got the gumption to upstage even long-standing cast members, McKinnon livened up a drab Piers Morgan/Lance Armstrong cold open with a spot-on rendition of Jodie Foster's much-discussed coming out speech at the Golden Globes. 

Here's McKinnon as Jodie admitting to Piers Morgan that she is "Gay-me for anything, officially a Les-lie Neilson fan and obsessed with Girls (the show). McKinnon's Jodie appears at the 4-minute mark for those of you who don't care to sit through a decidedly unfunny four minutes of Lance Armstrong and Manti Te'o revelations.

McKinnon, Vanessa Bayer, and Cecily Strong want birth control that's classy enough for a limo, and not a city bus. The Saturday Night Live parody of the birth control ring, Nuvabling, is a discreet yet diamond-encrusted ring that emits hormones and "faboosh" to "wow up that womb" and keep the babies away. Well, not quite. It's only 70% effective as an actual birth control, but hey, you can wear it again and again as earrings, or probably a very cumbersome navel ring.

McKinnon often steals the scene from longtime SNL veteran Seth Meyers even on Meyers's own beloved segment, Weekend Update. One of our favorite moments of the McKinnon Update was when she dropped by the Weekend Update desk as Olya Povlatsky, a Russian peasant woman devastated to have survived Friday’s massive meteor that crashed in the Ural mountain region.

Olya tells Seth Meyers she saw the meteor and begged it to please take her away from “this barren wasteland.”

“Do you know how hard this life in my village?" Olya asks.

She goes on to tell Seth that, at 18, she is the hottest girl in her village. “My milkshake brings all the boys to the haunted mine,” she says.

A little while back a Spanish woman defaced Ecce Homo with the intention of improving the cracked and peeling fresco. With a few brush strokes the 81-year-old changed Jesus into a monkey. She later asked to be paid for her work. Here's McKinnon as Cecelia Gimenez on Weekend Update.

SNL’s writers failed to take full advantage Kristen Wiig's highly anticipated return to host an episode and create what could have been the Wiig/McKinnon power hour, there was a gem of an SNL commercial for 1-800-FLOWERS in which McKinnon played Wiig’s pain-in-the-ass but lovable mom.

SNL’s first out lesbian cast member, McKinnon even got in a little tongue in cheek while rifling through the mom’s mega-bag in search of her missing debit card. “God, I wish I was a lesbian so I didn’t have to carry a purse,” McKinnon says.

McKinnon made a habit of upstaging Meyers in her repeated Weekend Update appearances, and election season offered McKinnon the chance to do one of her best impressions to date. 

McKinnon nailed her impression of Ann Romney, arguably one of the funniest moments in the hour-long episode, which featured no shortage of election jokes. Right down to the plastered-on smile, unblinking, wide eyes, and aw-shucks heartland accent, McKinnon was channelling the prospective first lady.

Although, admittedly, McKinnon might have been a little more honest than Romney when she pointed out the gap in celebrity endorsement of the respective political parties.

"If you're a Democrat, you get to eat with cool people like George Clooney," said McKinnon as Romney. "If you're a Republican, you get to shake Jon Voight's cold lizard hand."

McKinnon and host Vince Vaughn got up close and (grossly) personal in a skit called "Last Call," where each played the sad closers at a bar, trying to convince themselves — and each other — that it's a good idea to go home together. But judging by this makeout session, that might not be the case. Naturally, we wish it had been McKinnon and Nasim Pedrad or Cecily Strong at last call, but we'll take what we can get.
