Chely Wright continued with her media tour this week when she appeared on Oprah this week to talk about how it feels now that she's and out lesbian and the message she hopes to send to gay teens who are being told by church leaders and parents that they're damaged goods.
Chely Wright continued with her media tour this week when she appeared on Oprah this week to talk about how it feels now that she's out and the message she hopes to send to gay teens who are being told by church leaders and parents that they're damaged goods.
"I feel like I'm about two weeks old," Wright said when Oprah asked her how it feels now that she's out. The answer prompted Oprah to say, "That's the best answer I ever heard," before starting to cry.
"This is who God made me to be," Wright said. "Young people in every corner of America are being told by their churches - and the parents are echoing what the churches are telling them - that they are damaged goods, and they are not."
