The Owls & Hooters Drop on DVD June 6th!

Cheryl Dunye and The Parliament Film Collective’s The Owls and Anna Margarita Albelo’s Hooters will hit DVD June 6.

Iris, played by Guinevere Turner (American Psycho, The L Word), tries to resurrect her music career, while former band mates Lily and partner Carol have discovered the tragedy that is bed death, and figure it’s time to have a baby to keep their relationship going.

Iris decides to throw a pool party, where trouble, in the form of Deak Evgenikos (Itty Bitty Titty Committee) as Cricket, makes her way into their lives. In a “drug-fuelled haze” a fight ensues and Cricket ends up dead.

The friends come together and hide the body, creating a long-forgotten bond. A year later, a stranger makes her way into the friends’ circle and begins to snip at those bonds in the name of revenge. The social comedy aims to fill the gap between the ‘Older Wiser Lesbians’ (OWLS) and the next generation of lesbians. 

Hooters is Albelo’s insightful, hilarious feature-length documentary of the “behind the scenes” footage of The Owls.

Peccadillo Pictures is set to release the The Owls and Hooters on DVD June 6.
