Former L Word favorite Sarah Shahi is returning to TV and has just been tapped to play the lead in USA Network's Facing Kate.
The actress who made our hearts swoon as Shane's (Kate Moennig) almost-wife Carmen will play the title character, a divorced San Francisco attorney who leaves her job to become a mediator, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Shahi recently spent 32 episodes playing homicide detective Dani Reese on NBC's police drama/cult hit Life, opposite Damian Lewis, which NBC opted to not renew for a third season in May. Her detective Reese, who in Season 2 began dating her captain, eventually is kidnapped and rescued by Lewis' Charlie Crews.
Shahi also was a regular on all six episodes of the NBC's ill-fated sitcom Teachers in 2006 where she played Tina Torres, a teacher from Mexico.

Despite airing only six episodes, it was a treat to see Shahi in business-casual attire and walking the hallways in heels.
Her credits also include roles on Alias, The Sopranos, Damages, Dawson's Creek and ER and the Coen Brothers' Oscar season send-up For Your Consideration.
Facing Kate marks the second female-lead pilot at USA; the cabler also recently picked up Covert Affairs starring Piper Perabo.
This year, the small screen offers up plenty of eye candy in power suits as attorneys.
