Get ready for a triple dose of diva as new albums from Dolly Parton, Beyoncé and Jill Scott all drop today.
Better Day - Dolly Parton
“Better Day” marks Dolly’s 41st studio album. She’s an icon like no other who is respected across all genres of music, loves her gay fans, and even once lost her own look-alike contest to a drag queen. Dolly has always been known as a sweet, easy-going gal and this album is yet another reminder that we like her that way. Even after all these years, Dolly’s voice is still as sweet as it ever was—making it impossible not to smile while listening to this album.
4 – Beyoncé
Beyoncé changes things up for her 4th solo studio album. While most of her previous efforts have usually maintained a balance between strong ballads and instant club classics, the “Single Ladies” singer takes some time to slow things down for this album and returns to a soulful R&B sound. However, don’t think this diva still can’t tear up a good dance track. The last song on the album reminds us “who runs the world.”
The Light of the Sun – Jill Scott
Jill Scott returns with her first album in four years and “The Light of the Sun” is a lesson in the full range of human emotions. From hurting to hopeful, through struggle, and finding joy, this 15 track album covers it all while blending the sounds of jazzy flourishes, soulful beats and of course the unmistakable sound of Ms. Scott’s silky smooth voice.
