Leave Shawn Mendes Alone!

Because the internet rumor mill is awful and can't let people live their lives unbothered, pop singer-songwriter Shawn Mendes had to, once again, respond to accusations about whether or not he really is gay.

The speculation about the "In My Blood" singer's sexuality has been a talking point for the worldwide pop music fandom, most of whom have been hoping and believing Mendes to be a closeted gay man for many years now.

Despite Mendes already admitting that these rumors were untrue in 2016, the debate has continued with people more recently accusing Mendes of having too effeminate gestures.

Well, Mendes spoke about these accusations with Rolling Stone in a candid interview while promoting his new album.

"I thought, ‘You fucking guys are so lucky I’m not actually gay and terrified of coming out," Mendes told Rolling Stone. "That’s something that kills people. That’s how sensitive it is. Do you like the songs? Do you like me? Who cares if I’m gay?"

He continued:

"Maybe I am a little more feminine — but that’s the way it is. That’s why I am me."
