The docuseries also delves into an alleged cross-generational legacy of abuse in the Hammer family.

Armie Hammer’s turn in Call Me By Your Name made him an instant gay fave, but following a shocking series of disclosures last year of alleged sexual violence, rape, and threats of cannibalism, his once bright star burned out.

Hammer, along with his family, are now the subject of a new Discovery+ docuseries, House of Hammer. The program will delve not only into Hammer’s alleged actions, but uncover the alleged abuse of five generations of men in the Hammer family.

Hammer comes from an oil tycoon family which has long been associated with controversy. A piece by Vanity Fair from March 2021 detailed the shocking history of the Hammer family dating back to 1919 and how Armie’s misconduct fits into that legacy.

Similarly, House of Hammer will contextualize Armie’s story within that framework, while also offering his multiple alleged victims an opportunity to share their stories.

Hammer has called the accusations “bullsh*t.” However, in the wake of the controversy, he was removed from a handful of projects, effectively stalling if not ending his career.

Also opening up for the first time is a member of the Hammer family, Casey Hammer, the actor’s aunt. “Magnify Succession a million times and it was my family,” she says in the trailer, before promising to reveal a family history rife with dark secrets, ranging from accusations of violence and abuse to political manipulation and financial fraud.

“The accusations of rape and abuse brought against Armie Hammer in the last few years are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the Hammer family. With House of Hammer, we witness truly disturbing details and sinister secrets that money and power couldn’t hide forever,” Jason Sarlanis, President of Crime and Investigative Content, Linear at Discovery+ said in the announcement release.

“This documentary provides an important platform for the incredibly courageous women who came forward to share their stories, and we hope their courage inspires others to continue meaningful conversations around abuse in our society.”

House of Hammer will premiere September 2 on Discovery+. Watch the trailer below.
