The Argentine heartthrob plays a gay character on ‘Rebelde’!
Netflix’s 2022 reboot of Rebelde is a queer-inclusive series that thankfully features out LGBTQ+ characters. One of the standout characters in the reboot is Luka Colucci – who’s played by actor Franco Masini.
The character of Luka is a wealthy and mean high-schooler from Argentina with a passion for music. However, he has to contend with the fact that his father wants him to go into business school instead of pursuing a career in music. Luka also doesn’t have an easy time in school as he feels rather superior to his classmates at Elite Way School and treats them in a snobby way.
After two seasons, Rebelde has shown a few different sides to Luka, which has prompted certain fans to like and/or empathize with the character a little more. One huge obstacle faced by Luka is when he is outed by Jana Cohen (played by Azul Guaita) at his aunt’s wedding. In the second season, Luka also has to grapple with tons of suspicion as Okane (played by Saak) begins to flirt with him but appears to be doing so to get closer to Jana instead.
Given the popularity of Luka as a gay character on Rebelde, LGBTQ+ fans have understandably taken a liking to and an interest on Masini as the actor who brings him to life.
