These queens aren't book smart, but they're certainly street smart!
It's hard to believe that it's been a decade since Derrick Barry and Kimora Blac competed on their OG seasons of RuPaul's Drag Race. Back then, the big news was that the Emmy-winning show was moving from Logo to VH1!
Although these divas have many years of drag experience under their belts, fans are still supporting them through all of their personal and professional endeavors, including their new hosting gig on the revamped version of Wait, What? on WOW Presents Plus.
Similar to the successful format of Trixie Mattel and Katya Zamolodchikova's UNHhhh, the queens are given a topic to discuss as they quiz their knowledge on everyday trivia.
"World of Wonder knew what they were doing! We are so similar in our brains. I like that we balance each other out, too," Barry tells Out.
"It's just so unserious. To bring Wait, What? back now, where things are just so chaotic and serious... to bring some laughter back to YouTube, that was basically the main goal," Blac adds.
As anti-LGBTQ+ legislation continues to sweep the nation, both of these RuGirls want to bring some queer joy at a time it's needed most.
"Two drag queens, blonde and unserious, talking about the world, is kind of insane," Blac laughs. "It's what we need!"
"That's what I like about this show! We get to educate through us not knowing. Because we know each other so well, we're able to go there and then laugh about it. That's it! No feelings hurt. It's just drag," Barry says.
Blac has starred in a few World of Wonder spin-off shows over the years, which has given Drag Race fans plenty of ammo to manifest her Werk Room return on a future All Stars season.
"The tea is, when I get the call, I will say yes! I don't think they're ready. I might even make up a new name, that's how ready I am. The answer is yes, I'm ready," Blac says.
"Kimora's stayed so visible since her season. She is always on a gig! That is why people constantly want to see her on the show. She is a full-time drag queen," Barry adds.
Wait, What? is now streaming on WOW Presents Plus. To see the full interview with Derrick Barry and Kimora Black, check out the video at the top of the page.
