The wait is almost over! But if you’re chomping at the bit for King of Drag to premiere, we have an exciting clip to tide you over.
On June 22, drag kings are at long last claiming the spotlight on this new drag competition series focused exclusively on the art of kinging. It promises to offer the kind of drag king representation that fans have spent years clamoring and calling for.
For those catching up, the show is packed with a veritable who’s who of the drag world and beloved queer celebs. Taking on the master of ceremonies role for each of the first season’s six episodes is beloved drag comic Murray Hill. He will be joined by an all star cast of judges, which includes beloved drag kings Tenderoni and Wang Newton, as well as Drag Race icons Sasha Velour and Gottmik, along with Revry co-founder and drag expert Damian Pelliccione. Each week, this panel will also invite incredible gaymous guests and guest judges to help in the quest to narrow down the cast of kings to the one who’ll ultimately be crowned the first-ever King of Drag.
Who are these kings? Last month, we finally got to meet the kings and they hail from all across the country — and the gender spectrum. One thing they all have in common, however, is their incredible talent and desire to snatch that crown. Oh yeah, this is going to be some, ahem, stiff competition!
Today, Revry exclusively shared the following clip with PRIDE which further introduces the 10 kings who are about to become part of “drag king history”. It also provides a taste of what’s to come in the first episode, teasing a sporty challenge and an appropriately sporty celebrity guest: former WNBA star (and LGBTQ Sports Hall of Famer) Layshia Clarendon!
