Rosario Dawson and Jenny Slate playfully kiss? Sure! At first we weren’t sure why, but we were totally on board with their gleeful make out sesh.
It turns out that for its annual "Great Performers" compilation, The New York Times Magazine invited 18 actors to share an on screen kiss. Directed by Elaine Constantine, the notion of a "single kiss" was depicted in nine different ways.
According to Constantine, many of the actors didn't know each other, saying that the "the excitement of meeting each other created an ease to get so intimate."
Among the pairings were Benedict Cumberbatch and Reese Witherspoon kissing under a moonlight masquerade, Kristen Stewart as a raging fan who attacks Chadwick Boseman on stage with a passionate kiss, and Gugu Mbatha-Raw in an elegant wedding dress kissing the dashing Miles Teller.
However, what caught our attention was the celebratory and playful kiss between Rosario Dawson and Jenny Slate. It’s been a great year for both performers. Earlier this year, Dawson played Dolores Huerta in Chavez and her new film Top Five, by Chris Rock is garnering loads of critical attention. With a reoccurring role on Parks and Recreation and a principle role on FX's Marriage, Jenny Slate is becoming a household name, fast. But it was her star turn in the sardonic Obvious Child that really put her on the map. For the kind of year they have had, the premise for their kiss only seems appropriate as they parade in a convertible, confetti flying, smiling from ear-to-ear, sharing a genuine moment to capture the ever so glorified onscreen kiss.
Here are a few pics but you'll have to go to the NY Times to see it in motion.
