Amber Glenn is back on the ice!
Similar to the millions of people who binged the first season of Heated Rivalry, the bisexual Olympic figure skater is obsessed with everything Ilya Rovanoz and Shane Hollander.
In fact, Glenn is such a huge fan that she decided to team up with HBO Max to star in her own viral sapphic video based on the hit show. The cinematic clip, set to the hit Heated Rivalry song "All the Things She Said," features Glenn and Lena Lemon as they explore sexual tension while focusing on their incredible technique on the ice.
Filmed at the beginning of June, the Heated Rivalry crossover serves as the perfect way to close out Pride Month. Plus, it gives fans a little more content to feast on as filming for season two of the hit hockey romance series gears up in the coming weeks.
"This is something I'm super passionate about! I watched Heated Rivalry right before the Olympics, so this was a full-circle moment. I wish there was a women's Heated Rivalry. There haven't been a lot of out women in figure skating. When I first came out, I wanted to make other people feel comfortable in their spaces. It came out so incredible," Glenn tells Out.
The viral clip nods to many of the notable moments featured in Heated Rivalry, including the sexy water bottle scene, the dramatic club scene, and one of the first moments where the athletes meet in the locker room. Despite all of the references, there were a couple scenes that were cut from the final video.
"There's a lot of things that were cut. There was a tuna melt scene that was so cute and silly. It was like a post-credits scene! That's the main thing that was cut. What's real and what's fantasy? There's so many hidden gems. They put so many easter eggs in this! I love the show so much."
There's no denying that Heated Rivalry has started crucial conversations regarding LGBTQ+ representation in sports, so Glenn's modern sapphic take on the gay love story will inspire many other closeted athletes to live more boldly and authentically.
"We love who we love and we are who we are. We need to show that we exist! We need to stand proud and represent." e're still, unfortunately, in a time where people aren't able to accept love in whatever form it might be. We're really making progress to normalize these things, especially with Heated Rivalry and the media."
