Key West's Famed Guest House Pearl's Rainbow No Longer Lesbian Only

Pearl’s Rainbow, the well known lesbian-only resort in Key West, Fla., has decided to open its doors to all due to economic challenges and changing cultural attitudes. “Pearl's Rainbow's lesbian owner, Heather Carruthers, said it was a business decision based on tough economic realities, the request of some lesbian guests who would like to bring male family members or friends — and on some good news. Lesbians are being more accepted and feel more comfortable in the mainstream these days.”

Pearl’s Rainbow, the well known lesbian-only resort in Key West, Fla., has decided to open its doors to all due to economic challenges and changing cultural attitudes.

The Miami Herald reports that the famous lesbian guesthouse went “all welcome” over Thanksgiving weekend. In October, Curve magazine honored Pearl’s Rainbow as the guesthouse that had the greatest impact on lesbian culture over the past 20 years.

On the other hand, the nine male-only guesthouses in Key West appear intent on remaining exclusively gay, reports the Herald.
