In the midst of a federal lawsuit from transgender golfer Lana Lawless (pictured), and on the eve of the Transgender Day of Remembrance, the Ladies Professional Golf Association is preparing to admit women not born biologically female.
The LPGA will bring up the issue at a November 30 meeting at its tour championship in Orlando. GolfChannel.com reports the organization is prepared to omit its membership requirement that players be "female at birth."
The change — which requires approval from two thirds of the LPGA's membership — may not end Lawless's case, as she is seeking damages over claims that the LPGA prevented her from playing golf professionally.
