WNBA Star Lisa Leslie Retires With Long List of Achievements

Lesbians love basketball. The WNBA is wrapping up the last of its regular season games. One of the many reasons you need to tune in is, of course, Lisa Leslie. With 11 years in the business, she’s retiring and this will be her swan song. For many she has been the face of the WNBA.

For all you procrastinators, it’s time to start watching basketball. The WNBA is wrapping up the last of its regular season games and the playoffs start September 16th. One of the many reasons you need to tune in is, of course, Lisa Leslie. With 11 years in the business, she’s retiring and this will be her swan song. For many she has been the face of the WNBA.

She was there back in 1996, during the Atlanta Olympics, winning the gold medal and making the WNBA possible. She went on to win three other golds. She is a three time MVP, eight time All-Star, the first player to dunk, the first to reach the 6,000 point plateau…the list goes on and on.

Here’s what Kathy Goodman, co-owner of the L.A. Sparks has to say about her:

The most impressive thing to me about Lisa is that every year, she has become a better basketball player. She has never just rested on her talent, content to do what she could do, waiting for everyone to catch up to her. She always expanded her game.”

So there you have it. The L.A. Sparks are in the playoffs and this is the last time you’ll get to see this icon strut her stuff. As I write this, everyone’s got one more game to play…but here’s the playoff picture as the WNBA sees it right now:

For the Western Conference: (1) Phoenix vs. (4) San Antonio

                                      (2) Seattle vs. (3) Los Angeles

For the Eastern Conference: (1) Indiana vs. (4) Washington

                                     (2) Atlanta vs. (3) Detroit

Looks like ESPN2 is the channel to turn to. Don’t fret--all the new fall lineup shows will already be over…the first Seattle vs. L.A. game starts at 10pm (for those of us on the East coast) on the 16th. Crush the No-Doz and mix thoroughly with the alcoholic beverage of your choice and stay up to watch. I promise you, you’ll thank me.
