The Disney alum celebrates Barbie, Britney and Olivia Newton-John in his new music video.

Who needs Ken when you’ve got Barbie Boys!

If, like us, you’ve been listening to the Barbie soundtrack on repeat, you’re going to want to check out Garrett Clayton's new single “Barbie Boys” that dropped just in time for the release of the candy-colored blockbuster.

The music video is a pink dream that celebrates Miami beach and is full of campy nods to the Barbie universe. It features the Teen Beach Movie and King Cobra starstar dressed in '80s spandex workout gear reminiscent of Olivia Newton-John’s “Physical” and he dances on a white pier, clearly referencing Britney Spears’ “Sometimes” which was shot in Malibu.

The song is a playful gay anthem, with lyrics like, “…I got a dream house famous for all its toys, keep it up all night, getting down with the Barbie boys. Getting down with the party boys.”

The entire video is a queer dream come true. There are men in half shirts and tiny shorts — Clayton included! — joyfully dancing and working out. The singer is also shown sucking on a lollipop and sprawled on the hood of a bright Barbie pink convertible.

Clayton came out publicly in 2018 after having been in a long-term relationship with boyfriend Blake Knight since 2011. The former Disney channel star married Knight in 2021 in a ceremony that was officiated by his King Cobra co-star Alicia Silverstone

“Barbie Boys” which starts with Clayton singing, “Hey frizzy boy get off your shelf,” celebrates the men who love Barbie too. The hugely successful Barbie movie — it raked in $55 million in its opening weekend alone — proves that women aren’t the only fans of the Mattel doll because men made up one-third of the audience, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Bobby Patrick from Broadway World called the track “a pop culture callout to … all the things Barbie, Ken, and, perhaps, even teens on the beach (wink).”
