We’re so ready for more Heartstopper!

The highly-anticipated second season of Heartstopper is coming to Netflix sometime in 2023, and we’re slowly learning about the storylines that will be addressed during the upcoming season.

According to Heartstopper creator Alice Oseman, season two of the hit Netflix series will address asexuality in a much more significant way in regard to the character of Isaac (played by Tobie Donovan).

“Asexuality will be discussed on TV in a big way. I’m excited. I hope it’ll change the world,” Oseman told Attitude. “I hope when it happens in Heartstopper it doesn’t feel like a lesson. You know Isaac, you care about him, and now you’re going to learn something new about him.”

Throughout season one, Isaac was mostly featured in the background of his friend group while reading numerous different books – mostly in silence. In the second season, Isaac will apparently speak up more and we’ll learn new details about the character.

Later in the interview, Oseman spoke about certain misunderstandings related to asexuality even within the LGBTQ+ community. They explained, “The A stands for asexual [ace] or aromantic [aro]. Those words mean little-to-no sexual attraction or little-to-no romantic attraction. This confuses a lot of people because, for most people, they’re the same. But for aro/ace people, they can differ.”

Besides Donovan, the cast of Heartstopper season two will also see the return of Kit Connor (Nick), Joe Locke (Charlie), Yasmin Finney (Elle), William Gao (Tao), Corinna Brown (Tara), Kizzy Edgell (Darcy), and Sebastian Croft (Ben), among others.

Heartstopper season two is coming soon to Netflix.
