Tide Schools Uptight Parents on How to Handle a Tomboy

Apparently Angelina Jolie has got it all wrong. When the actress/humanitarian’s daughter Shiloh was attacked last year by the tabloids for what some perceive to be a deviant choice of clothing for her gender, Jolie stepped up and called Shiloh’s fashion sense “fascinating,” even going so far as to give it the name “Montenegro Style.” However, thanks to a new television commercial featuring a mom straight out of the Laura Ashley catalog, we now know better.

The latest ad from the makers of Tide help set the record straight on how parents should really behave when their children don’t conform to traditional gender roles.

If you happen to be the mother of a tomboy, make sure you let your daughter know how much you disapprove of her camouflage hoodies and cargo shorts with passive aggressive comments passed off as concern.

While your at it, you might want to look uncomfortable any time you talk about her refusal to wear pink and love of “getting dirty” as well.

Oh, and just in case any of the above doesn’t shame your daughter for being who she is, just call her out for building a car garage with blocks—it’ll work wonders.

Thanks for the tips Tide!
