Harriet Tubman is Your Choice for a Woman on the $20 Bill

The people voted...

The campaign to put a woman on the $20 bill has revealed the people’s choice to replace President Andrew Jackson: Harriet Tubman, a former slave who led hundreds of others to freedom, served as a Union nurse and scout during the Civil War, and worked for women’s suffrage.

Tubman was one of four finalists in the campaign, the others being Eleanor Roosevelt, Rosa Parks, and Wilma Mankiller. Tubman received more than 118,000 votes, over 30 percent of the total, notes Women on 20s, the group behind the campaign, in a Web post. The winner was determined in a 10-week online poll.

Women on 20s has submitted a petition to President Obama along with a video about Tubman (watch below). You can support the effort through a virtual march, using the hashtag #DearMrPresident on your social media posts.
