Batwoman: An Out Lesbian Super Hero

Katherine "Kate" Kane by day, Batwoman by night, she came out of the closet in 2006 as being of Jewish descent and as a lesbian. Kane joins Gothamite Renee Montaya, her former partner, as an out character. DC Comics is releasing a “at least” twelve issue arch in a regular Detective Comics series.

DC Comics, the editors behind epic American characters including Superman and Batman, is releasing an “at least” twelve issue arch featuring Batwoman in a regular Detective Comics role.

DC legendary scribe Greg Rucka will be penning the series with artist J.H. Williams illustrating.  Batwoman originally appeared in the DC Comic world in 1956. She was introduced as a love interest for The Dark Knight to help quiet persisting rumors about Batman’s own sexuality.
