Obama Girls Sasha and Malia Get Their Puppy: A Portuguese Water Dog

President Barack Obama is about to make good on a very important campaign promise. He and First Lady Michelle Obama are finally getting that puppy he promised for their girls Sasha and Malia.

The girls are eagerly awaiting a Portuguese Water Dog Sen. Ted Kennedy's family helped procure from a prominent Texas kennel, according to TMZ.

The dog, an approximately six-month-old black male, was sold to someone who gave it back, which technically makes him a "rehomed" dog.

Originally named Charlie, the Obamas' pet will be renamed. Charlie is of the same lineage of several of the Portuguese Water Dogs the Kennedy family has gotten from the kennel. The Kennedy's will present the dog to the Obama family Tuesday but he is essentially coming from the kennel, which avoids any sticky situations regarding gifts to the President.
