The Greater Phoenix Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce is pleading with gay rights groups across the country to drop the boycott in Arizona, Fox News is reporting.
The Phoenix-based organization sent out an email to hundreds of its members, including the Human Rights Campaign and the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce.
The Chairman, Joseph Gesullo, is calling the boycott "political" and baseless, and is arguing that the boycott will only hurt local businesses. "They haven't even read SB 1070. ... They don't even really know what's going on around here. It's really just hurting the people of Arizona," he said.
The email reportedly urged those opposed to Arizona's law to consider signing a statement denouncing it, rather than impose a boycott.
