The Proud Whopper is Burger King’s new pride-related campaign that features a rainbow wrapping around the same whopper burger, proclaiming the bold words, “WE ARE ALL THE SAME INSIDE.” In the video, customers clad in their pride gear sit down to munch on the burger, pondering what the big deal is before they have the ultimate epiphany about the burger being a metaphor.
Just take a look at some of the words the girls say about the Proud Whopper:
“You don’t taste it?”
“I think it’s the meat. The meat tastes sweeter.”
“It’s the same shit - it’s the same shit”
“Everything’s the same on the inside, but it’s just the outside”
“She got it!”
One of the girls realized that the Proud Whopper was a step taken by the company to support the LGBT community during SF pride. She explained her emotions, “I cried in there because I was overwhelmed.
