Mother’s Day is just around the corner, and what better way to celebrate parental love like a list of our favorite TV Momm(ies) and Me moments from the 2013/2014 season? Enjoy and prepare to not stop smiling!
1. Susan and Cheryl are Taylor’s Two Moms on Good Luck Charlie
Surprisingly, it’s the Disney Channel that takes the cake this Mother’s Day, with a moment so lovely and refreshing on a kid’s show we had to rewind a few times just to believe it actually happened. But we’re so glad it did, and hope that it was inspiring even to those who weren’t constantly dreaming this day would come. Here’s to lots more Disney diversity and family love!
2. Haddie Comes Out on Parenthood
It took Parenthood a damn long time to introduce an LGBT character, but this scene where Kristina sits Haddie down to discuss her formerly secret relationship with a girl is worth the wait. By the end, it wasn’t just the characters getting tear-eyed over their heartfelt confessions, but us as well, and in the best kind of way. We could just watch this clip over and over, and very well might as a Mother’s Day TV tradition!
3. Betty Degeneres at the HRC Time to Thrive Conference
We already knew we loved Ellen Degeneres, but we’re totally ready to be president her mom Betty’ fan club right now. This was the same conference that Ellen Page came out, so her speech about parental love and acceptance for one’s LGBT children is an inspiration to moms and parents everywhere.
4. Stef and Lena Decide To Get Pregnant on The Fosters:
Nothing says ‘Mother’s Day’ like a whole lot of new family members! This summer, our favorite TV couple is taking a tear-inducingly lovely leap with Lena’s pregnancy, not to mention their very recent adoption of Jude and continued pursuit to adopt Callie as well. Through increasingly trying levels of parenthood, Stef and Lena have managed to stay closer then ever, and we can’t wait for what’s in store with the new addition.
5. MK Nobilette and her Two Moms on American Idol
MK Nobilette stole our hearts and made us swoon on American Idol this season, and best of all, made both her mothers proud. We’re still not over the totally awesome MK, who could openly talk about the amazing support system of her girlfriend and two moms on national TV, make it into Idol’s Top 10, and be an inspiration for kids looking up to her all over the world. We couldn’t be more excited for what she does next! Watch an interview with her here.
Here's to a wonderful Mother's Day!
