'Faking It' gets a second season despite mixed reviews at the beginning.
MTV’s Faking It has been renewed for a ten-episode second season.
The show, which first received mixed reviews for its premise about best friends who pretend to be girlfriends to gain popularity, has secured a loyal fanbase since debuting last April. Even showrunner Carter Covington had reservations about the show’s premise, she said
The show stars Katie Stevens as Karma and Rita Volk as Amy as the two best friends who are mistakenly outed as a lesbian couple and who decide to run with it.
The outing launches them to a popularity they never thought they would achieve. Desperate to remain at the top, the girls decide to go with it and ride the popularity wave for as long as they can.
The show earned a 1.5 rating among the target 12-34 demographic and draws in 1.4 million viewers weekly, according to Deadline Hollywood. The season one finale airs tomorrow.
