THE Look: Venice Beach Meets New York Chic

One of the main reasons I moved to California a year ago was for the ocean. After living in New York for five years and suffering through harsh winters, I was ready for a big change. I wanted sky, ocean breeze, and sunshine. Lots and lots of sunshine!
I live in West Hollywood, but I come over to Venice with my skateboard at least once a week. Where the city meets the sea, Venice has a wonderful, long beach trail that allows me to people-watch, cruise and occasionally, bother some cyclists.
That’s the inspiration for THE Look at the beach this summer. Monochromatic and urbane (my thing) yet appropriate for all water and water-side pursuits, here’s what you need in order to put it together.
A new brand in L.A., the designer Hiro Clark is a lovely guy who is super passionate about making collections that are easy to wear with pretty sweet prints. I admire his shirts because they’re all black and white.
Hat by 1KNY
People in L.A. wear hats everywhere from the beach to the Chateau Marmont…to the movies…to Bootsy Bellows. I always pack a hat to hide, either from unwanted attention from the sun, or people. This minimal and modern hat is my favorite.
These white and black swim trunks have a fantastic material for being active. They dry quickly and fit snugly. I wear them everywhere! Mr. Turk is an extremely colorful brand, so why am I in love?
Bag by Saturdays Surf NYC
I love this bag because it fits all of my little gadgets with just enough room to spare for a sweater and bottle of sunscreen.
See you guys at the beach and in the water this summer! And keep it stylish.
