Pixar is looking for a transgender actress for an upcoming project!
A casting notice posted earlier this week from the animated studio has revealed an exciting new character, though not much else is know about the project she'll appear in.
"The character, Jess, is a 14-year-old transgender girl," the casting notice reads. "She's compassionate, funny, and always has you back."
Pixar is looking for 12-17 years old actresses who are "enthusiastic, outgoing, funny, and energetic," comfortable acting in front of a microphone, and can "authentically portray a 14-year-old transgender girl."
San Francisco-based organization Trans March confirmed the news with Pixar's casting director and shared it on Twitter.
Jess will be Pixar's first explicitly transgender character ever, and we're glad the company is choosing to give her accurate representation through casting!
