Growing up isn't easy, especially when you are one of those kids who doesn't like to play by the rules. Hell, even being an adult who plays them off is pretty hard too. These kids prove that gender doesn't define your identity. They are the true role models for who we want to be when we grow up.

Willow tells us to whip our hair back and forth, and she's become known for her unique sense of style. Her androgynous style sets her apart from other teen pop stars who dress strongly feminine or masculine. She is truly living her best life, and we are here for it.

Jazz Jennings

The 14-year-old trans teen sensation has long been an activist for transgender rights and awareness of trans youth issues. This year she catapulted to a new level of stardom after becoming the face for Clean & Clear’s “See The Real Me” advertising campaign. She is also starring in a TLC reality show called All That Jazz this summer. Go girl!

R. Kelly's son Jay Kelly came out as transgender last year. He was only 14 years old when he came out, and critics said he was too young to be trans, but Jay has had support from his mother, Andrea Kelly.

Malisa Phillips

In February, California congressman Mike Honda tweeted a photo of his transgender granddaughter, Malisa, and talked openly about his support for her transition and gender identity. Since then, Malisa and her parents have been carrying the torch for young trans kids everywhere. There's no doubt that her identity has influenced her grandpa to take an important public stance on trans youth and issues.

In 2013, Stephen Ira Beatty, the son of Warren Beatty, starred in a video produced by GLAAD and the Sylvia Rivera Law Project alongside a group of transgender people who are seeking affordable and more comprehensive health care.

Jaden Smith

Jaden Smith caused a social media firestorm when he was spotted with flowers in his hair at Coachella and wearing a long T-shirt that resembled a dress. He took the criticism in stride and even made jokes about it on Twitter.
