Since then, Malisa and her parents have been carrying the torch for young trans kids everywhere. There's no doubt that her identity has influenced her grandpa to take an important public stance on trans youth and issues.

In 2013, Stephen Ira Beatty, the son of Warren Beatty, starred in a video produced by GLAAD and the Sylvia Rivera Law Project alongside a group of transgender people who are seeking affordable and more comprehensive health care.

Jaden Smith caused a social media firestorm when he was spotted with flowers in his hair at Coachella and wearing a long T-shirt that resembled a dress. He took the criticism in stride and even made jokes about it on Twitter.
