The King, Mahershala Ali, Is Going to Star in Season 3 of 'True Detective'

The first season of True Detective was, hands down, one of the best seasons of television in recent history. (The second season? Eh...not so much...)

After a two year hiatus, True Detective has been signed by HBO for a third season. And who’s to star? None other than the king himself, Mahershala Ali. Ali recently won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Moonlight. But instead of playing the role of an unlikely father figure to a troubled boy, he’ll be playing Wayne Hays, an Arkansas state police detective. According to the season’s official logline, Hays investigates a “macabre crime” in the Ozarks and becomes tangled up in a mystery spanning three decades.

We are quaking in our damn boots for what Ali will bring to the newest season of True Detective. There’s no confirmed premiere date (or other cast members) for season three yet, but we’ll make sure to keep our eyes peeled.
