Jeremiah Lloyd Harmon, the openly gay son of a pastor, garnered national attention earlier this year after sharing his touching story on American Idol of acceptance from his conservative parents. While many thought he had a strong chance to go all the way and win, Harmon was shockingly eliminated on last night's episode.
Harmon, along with Laci Kaye Booth, did not receive enough votes from Idol fans to make the top four. The judges were given the chance to save one of the singers, and the settled on keeping Booth in the competition over Harmon.
According to a poll form GoldDerby, 82 percent of viewers believe Katy, Lionel, and Luke made the wrong choice of cutting Harmon from the competition. USA Today even called the decision "a head-scratcher."
Harmon shared a parting thought on Twitter. "Your value is never up for a vote. #Mantra," he wrote.
