Here’s some good news for your Friday! ABC Family has renewed the summer’s breakout family drama The Fosters for a second season, according to TV Line. The series, which stars Teri Polo and Sherri Saum as lesbian moms raising a biological son, adopted twins and foster kids, is currently in production for the back half of its first season, which will air in January 2014.

Executive produced by Jennifer Lopez, The Fostersis another progressive series from the network that brought us happily out characters on GreekThe Secret Life of the American Teen, and Pretty Little Liars.

The Fosters has demonstrated its ability to build an audience, and the creative team’s compelling storytelling assures us that there will be more growth in upcoming seasons,” ABC Family CCO Kate Juergens said in a statement. “The show’s dynamic cast and groundbreaking storylines resonate with our core viewers and leave them wanting more.”

The Fosters ranked as the summer’s No. 1 new cable series for viewers 12-34, TV Line reports.

Since we’ve absolutely fallen for Polo, Saum and The Fosters in general, a show with just about more heart than any we’ve ever seen, we could not be happier about the news!
