Emmy nominee for directing for Orange Is the New Black, Jodie Foster, is back at the helm again, this time for the new feature film Money Monster, and it stars heavy hitter George Clooney!
The movie was picked up by TriStar Pictures beating out multiple companies bidding for the movie, according to The Hollywood Reporter. TriStar Pictures is giving Foster a $30 million budget for the movie.
The thriller is about a man who followed a bad tip from a TV money guru, played by Clooney, according to Deadline Hollywood. The man, in financial straits, then holds the anchor and audience hostage threatening to kill the host if the stock doesn’t rise before the day closes.
This is Foster’s eighth time in the director’s chair, according to IMDB. Foster directed two episodes of Orange is the New Black, one in each season. She is Emmy nominated for her directorial work on “Lesbian Request Denied,” episode 3 of season 1, according to Deadline Hollywood.
Foster has also directed The Beaver, the classic dysfunctional family holiday film Home for the Holidays, and Little Man Tate.
