Ellen DeGeneres Developing New Sitcom Happy Time with Idina Menzel

Rejoice, Idina Menzel fans! The trend of Broadway stars finding sitcoms (here's looking at you, Sutton Foster in Younger) is slated to continue in perhaps the best way possible, with the Frozen/Wicked/Rent/If/Then/lots of other shows star soon taking the small screen.

Ellen DeGeneres' company A Very Good Production is developing a new half-hour comedy written by Girl Meets World's Randi Barnes called Happy Time, about "a woman in the public eye who's ready to stop pretending she's so damn happy all the time." (Might she want to...let it go, one might even say?)

We won't be seeing Happy Time for a while since it's in very early stages of development, but we will be seeing Idina singing the National Anthem at the Super Bowl, so she's never off our screens for too long. And of course, we've also got Ellen's other new lesbian-tastic sitcom One Big Happy to look forward to in the meantime. Idina + Ellen is a combination we never expected to see, but now we can't wait for what's in store!
