Freeheld opened in select theaters last week and if you weren't able to catch it, fear not. It'll be expanding to wide release as of tomorrow, and if Ellen DeGeneres has anything to do with it, it's what you'll choose for weekend movie night. Freeheld tells the true story of partners Laurel Hester and Stacie Andree fighting for equal rights after Laurel is diagnosed with stage-4 cancer, a journey that contributed to the historic marriage equality win just this year. Ellen sat down with the film's star, Julianne Moore, to discuss working closely with Ellen Page, why this film is so important, and to even introduce us to the real Stacie Andree and Dane Wells (Laurel's wife and police partner, respectively) who were in the studio audience. Ellen asserts that the film made her and Portia sob, and that she hopes everyone sees it not as a "gay" movie, but instead a movie about love. Watch the interview now, then add Freeheld to your 'must see' list, if it isn't already!
