Amber Rose made waves through the internet yesterday because of a Funny or Die video she made called the "Walk of No Shame." In the video, she walks barefoot out of a house and makes her way through the neighborhood, where she gets stopped by neighbors along the way who tell her that she's living her best life and congratulate her for having a walk of "no shame" after a night with a guy, who happens to be Matt McGorry (from Orange is the New Black).Â
At this year's MTV VMAs, she wore a dress with the slurs "slut" along with "gold digger," "whore," and "bitch" drawn on it. She was embracing the terms that people usually hurl at her to offend her, but the awesome thing is that Rose doesn't let it bother her.
On her website, she lists four reasons she supports women's empowerment:
- No more sexual violence
- No more victim blaming
- No more derogatory labels
- No more gender inequality
The really cool thing apart from this video, where Rose truly is showing everyone how to live their best life, and have no shame in their game, is the fact that she is hosting a Slut Walk in Los Angeles on October 3rd.
The first Slut Walk started in 2011, when a Toronto Police Constable gave a speech and told students at Guelph University that they wouldn't be raped if they "stopped dressing like sluts."Â Since then, many cities have hosted Slut Walk's to reclaim the word and not allow anyone to slut shame or harass women, especially women who are sexually harassed or raped.Â
Learn more about her Slut Walk in Los Angeles here, and even if you can't attend in person, you can still participate by adding your voice on social media.
