The BBC released a press image of the girls from the upcoming Ab-Fab season, and though it's been almost 20 years since the group first appeared they don't look like they've changed a day.
Can you believe that Jane Horrocks (Bubble) is 47, Julia Sawalha (Saffy) is 43, Jennifer Saunders (Edina) is 53, June Whitfield (mom) is 86, and Joanna Lumley (Patsy) is 65?
Actually, June is the only one who looks any different from the last time we saw her on screen as Eddy's ditzy mother, and she just looks younger. Bolly for her!
Jennifer Saunders told the BBC Comedy Blog, "Its great that we are able to celebrate our 20th birthday with all the original cast. Like a good bottle of champagne we hope that we have got better with time without losing any of our sparkle... Nevertheless, we are so happy to be working for an audience that has grown just a tiny bit older like us, but is still willing to let us fall over on TV in the name of PR."
We learned on a recent Graham Norton episode that there are two Christmas episodes in the new season, and then the website Anglotopia offered some info on the plots. They're not much in the way of spoilers—more like teases— but if you don't want any idea of what your favorite gals are up to then don't read on. Otherwise, here's the scoop:
CHRISTMAS SPECIAL - Part 1
There’s a homecoming for one of them who’s been ‘away’ for quite some time. She arrives at the Monsoon household with a new – slightly scary – best friend. Her presence could be either a blessing or a disaster, raising questions of identity that could even involve a certain person owning up to her real age … if she can remember it.
Warning: A Royal Wedding is re-enacted by Bubble.
CHRISTMAS SPECIAL - PART 2
With Eddy having fewer and fewer clients and a daughter who despises her, it’s business as usual. But when she and Patsy meet a famous French film star whom Saffy hugely admires, Eddy hopes that the job of taking her on as a client could bring a new-found respect, and some much-needed income.
The problem is that her client’s talents aren’t everything they seem to be…
Warning: Edina Monsoon sings.
