Loving Annabelle director Kat Brooks has been nominated for Twitter’s Shorty Award for Director, and you can help her win the prize by voting for her here.
Brooks, who has also directed The Osbournes and The Real World, ran away at 16 and lived in her car to make her dreams come true. She is in the Directors Guild of America (DGA), a guild where only 4% of members for directing are women.
She has served as a Jury Member for Samsung Fresh-Films, the largest teen filmmaking program in the country. Brooks was the recipient of the LACE Award for Arts and Entertainment, which honors women who have made a difference in the entertainment community. In 2011 she received a Power Up Award for being a strong voice and activist for the LGBT community.
Brooks is currently working on Face 2 Face, a documentary feature in which she traveled the country to meet 50 of her 5,000 Facebook friends. Get more information on Face 2 Face and other projects from Books on her website.
The Shorty Awards honor the best of social media, recognizing the people and organizations producing real-time short form content on across Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, YouTube, Foursquare, and the rest of the social Web, according to the "about Shorty Awards" page.
