NBC has ordered Allison Adler (pictured) and Glee co-creator Ryan Murphy's new half-hour gay-themed comedy pilot entitled The New Normal, according to the industry website Deadline Hollywood.
Normal is being described as a heartwarming comedy about a blended family, consisting of a gay couple and a woman who becomes the couple’s surrogate after they decide to start their own family.
The Book of Mormon sensation Andrew Rannells was cast as one of the male cast members. There is no word yet on who is in the running for the other two leads.
Adler served as co-executive producer on Chuck and No Ordinary Family, but made headlines last year when her break-up with Sara Gilbert went public.
