Supergirl, Batgirl, and Wonder Girl Get 'My Little Pony' Treatment in 'Super Best Friends Forever'

Supergirl, Batgirl, and Wonder Girl Get 'My Little Pony' Treatment in 'Super Best Friends Forever'

The woman behind 'Powerpuff Girls' and the new 'My Little Pony' series is taking on three classic female super heroes.

Gay.net is reporting that My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic creator Lauren Faust is helming Super Best Friends Forever, a series of cartoon shorts where classic DC comics heroines Supergirl, Batgirl, and Wonder Girl team up to fight crime, Gay.net reports.

Super Best Friends Forever will be a part of DC Nation Shorts airing on Cartoon Network, and given the sassy, adult take Faust gave Pony, one can expect more of the same here. The series is scheduled to premiere March 3, 2012 but there's no exact date on when Super Best Friends Forever will make its debut within this series. DC Nation Shorts will also include adventures of teenage girl superhero Amethyst - Princess of Gemworld, along with boy-centric heroes like Plastic Man, The Doom Patrol, Batman, Lego Batman, Teen Titans, Blue Beetle and Gotham City Impostors.

This past weekend Warner Bros. animation released artwork for Faust's take on Superman's cousin. So far there have not been any images of Batgirl or Wonder Girl released. According to Gay.net, "fans are excited about Faust's involvement with the legendary female heroes. Prior to Pony, she also worked on The Powerpuff Girls and Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends."
