Katherine Brooks (Loving Annabelle) has a new feature film project! Directed by Brooks, Off the Record will push the boundaries of filmmaking, exposing some controversial and taboo topics.
The film centers around two women played by Aimee Allen and Katherine Brooks. Allen’s character Charley is a tortured rock star with severe agoraphobia, and Brooks’ character Alex is a music journalist. Off the Record explores mental health issues, intimacy and a woman’s struggles as a survivor of sexual abuse.
Charley and Alex had begun to lose their passion for music until they come together, form an instant bond and begin to feel music again. Although Charley seems hard-core, she is a conservative Christian who, as a child, dreamed of having a husband and kids despite her attraction to women. So begins a battle for Charley between what she is conditioned to believe and the person she loves.
While Off the Record is scripted, all scenes will be improvised, as Brooks blends her ten years of directing reality television with tens years of narrative features.
The really great news for Loving Annabelle fans is that its star Erin Kelly reteams with Brooks playing Alex's best friend in Off the Record.
The Kickstarter campaign ends in 11 days! As of posting, $18,680 of the $22,000 needed has been pledged.
