Machete Kills, the sequel to Robert Rodriguez’s wonderfully violent but hilarious guilty pleasure Machete, is already creating loads of buzz, and now, stunning out actress Amber Heard has signed on to costar, making it even more appealing.

Heard, who’s enjoying quite a career these days with Rum Diary and Drive Angry and the short-lived The Playboy Club, will play “a manipulative assassin code-named Miss San Antonio,” according to Variety.

The cast of Machete Kills, which stars Danny Trejo as a killing machine and lady killer in the romance department, already has plenty of eye candy for the ladies including Jessica Alba reprising her role as Sartana and Michelle Rodriguez back as the bad-ass Luz.

The downside is that director Rodriguez (Sin City, Planet Terror, From Dusk Till Dawn) also cast headline maker –for all of the wrong reasons -- Mel Gibson in the sequel. Guaranteed there will be plenty of tongue-in-cheek jokes about Gibson’s cantankerous off-screen antics but that does make it tough to spend money at the box office on the project.

At any rate, here’s Michelle Rodriguez in action in the original Machete, and yes, it’s completely gratuitous.
