Rosie O’Donnell revealed on her blog today that she and her fiancée Michelle Rounds were forced to postpone their wedding when Rounds was diagnosed with rare non-cancerous but aggressive fibromatoses, also known as Desmoid tumors.

On her blog O’Donnell explains that Rounds woke up in pain on Mother’s Day and their nightmare of tests, before she was finally diagnosed with Desmoid tumors, began.  Here’s is part of O’Donnell’s blog.

desmoid tumors
odd and curious beasts
strong and sneaky
a non cancer that acts cancerous

only 900 cases a year in the US
an orphan disease – beyond rare
only 3 people per million get this
michelle is one of them

she is recovering from surgery in june
getting stronger every day
we have joined the fight against this disease
raising money and awareness

we had to postpone our wedding
re scheduled for next summer
in lieu of gifts -
we ask for donations

Last September O’Donnell began to speak openly about her new girlfriend Rounds, whom she met at a Starbucks. Rounds was working as a corporate headhunter for an IT company at the time they met, People reported. By Christmas O’Donnell announced via Us that the pair was engaged but had not set a wedding date.
