Indie film darling Evan Rachel Wood is in talks to play a trucker on the run in an upcoming road film 18 Wheel Butterfly from director Michael Polish (Twin Falls Idaho, Northfork), according to Variety.

Wood, who came out as bisexual last year and has played LGBTQ in Once and Again, The Wrestler and True Blood, would star as Rainbeaux, “a driver who must outrace the law, bounty hunters and a pair of fellow truckers after she is accused of a crime she didn't commit,” reports Variety.

The movie is set in Texas and is being described as a “throwback” film that is a cross between Thelma and Louise and Smokey and the Bandit, according to Variety.

Wood, an Emmy nominee for her work opposite Kate Winslet in the HBO miniseries Mildred Pierce, kick started her career as a troubled teen in Catherine Hardwicke's Thirteen in 2003 and has since starred in Running with Scissors, Across the Universe and the Ides of March, to name a few. Her next project is The Unnecessary Death of Charlie Countryman with Shia LaBeouf.

Butterfly’s producer Aaron Magnani is still seeking funding, and here’s hoping he lands it, and Wood, so we can watch her kick ass down the highway in fifth gear!
