The elections that actually matter have come and gone for now, but if you’ve still got election fever and you’re not putting your money or your voting power on The Voice or X Factor contestants there’s always the prestigious People’s Choice Awards.
The good news is that there are plenty of gay lady friendly or adjacent finalists up for People’s Choice Awards this year. Here’s a break down of some of the more LGBT-related or relevant nominees. So check them out and get voting – or don’t. With all of the gains for marriage equality, plus Tammy Baldwin becoming the first openly gay Senator ever that’s a pretty damned good election year. Will it matter if Ellen gets another People’s Choice?
Vote here for this very life-altering election. The People's Choice Awards will air Jan. 9, on CBS.
Favorite Movie:
“The Amazing Spider-Man”
“The Avengers”
“The Dark Knight Rises”
“The Hunger Games”
“Snow White and the Huntsman”
We're going with The Hunger Games since Katniss kicks ass and looks fab in a pair of boots and Jennifer Lawrence is pretty much the best thing to happen to young Hollywood in years.
Favorite Movie Actress:
Anne Hathaway
Emma Stone
Jennifer Lawrence
Mila Kunis
Scarlett Johansson
This is a tough category considering all of these women are excellent actresses who've played tough, witty, bad-ass or even bisexual or lesbian adjacent - see Scar-Jo in Vicki Cristina Barcelona or Mila Kunis in Black Swan. That said, here's a photo of the lovely Mila.

Favorite Movie Icon:
Emma Thompson
Maggie Smith
Meryl Streep
Michelle Pfeiffer
Susan Sarandon
It's impossible to choose just one, but since Meryl played lesbian in The Hours we'll go with her. But wait, Emma played lesbian on The Ellen Show sitcom back in the day. This is pretty much an impossible category. Good luck voting.

Emma Stone, “The Amazing Spider-Man”
Jennifer Lawrence, “The Hunger Games”

Emma Watson
Keira Knightley

Again, how do you choose just one? They're all so good. Luckily, if you have time to waste you can just keep clicking on the categories and voting until your fingers go numb. Charlize played gay in Monster and Meryl in The Hours, if that helps.

Favorite Network TV Comedy:
“The Big Bang Theory”
“Glee”
“How I Met Your Mother”
“Modern Family”
“New Girl”
Big Bang, Modern Family and How I Met Your Mother all star gay actors and Modern Family features a gay male couple but since Glee is the only one that stars a gay actor (Chris Colfer) a lesbian (Jane Lynch) and features lesbian and bisexual women, the answer is obvious.
Favorite Network TV Drama:
“Gossip Girl”
“Grey's Anatomy”
“Grimm”
“Once Upon a Time”
“Revenge”
While we at SheWired are Revenge devotees-- thank you Emily VanCamp!--if we're going purely on adorable representation of a queer couple even through break-ups, pregnancy, baby daddies, car crashes, a musical episode and amputation then we have to go with these two!

Favorite Premium Cable TV Show:
“Dexter”
“Game of Thrones”
“Homeland”
“Spartacus”
“True Blood”
Sure, True Blood has more LGBT characters than you can swing a cat --or were-panther at-- but Dexter's Debra Morgan is really just the best honorary lesbian ever on television. But wait, Pam and Tara are kind of hooking up on True Blood. Honestly, this one's a dead heat.
Favorite TV Crime Drama
“Bones”
“Castle”
“Criminal Minds”
“CSI”
“NCIS”
This one's easy. Criminal Minds costars out actress Kirsten Vangsness as the masterful hacker Penelope Garcia.
