Lesbian singer-songwriter duo (and twin sisters) Tegan and Sara's newest album, Heartthrob hits stores on Tuesday, January 29. But you can get a sneak preview of the entire album before the record drops right now at Rolling Stone.
The record is a sharp departure from the folksy, guitar-centered songs that Tegan and Sara built their indie reputation upon. Heartthrob breaks into the mainstream music consciousness with synth-laden hooks and catchy melodies that will linger in your head and leave your… heart… throbbing.
The twins sat down with Rolling Stone to talk about the naming of the album, and how they wanted to escape from the passive, martyrdom of their last record, Sainthood. Watch Tegan and Sara wax nostalgic on the naming process, and the past romances that continue to provide lyrical inspiration for the pair. And just for kicks, note that the video was directed and edited by none other than Clea DuVall.
