America’s beloved Golden Girl Betty White was summoned to host Saturday Night Live after roughly 514,000 people joined a campaign on Facebook.  With such an outstanding amount of pressure, Betty’s first run on SNL could’ve gone one of two ways – really bad or really flippin’ fantastic.  Which way did it go?  Saturday Night Live received the highest ratings in two years on Saturday with Betty hosting.  When Betty White shows you her “muffin”, you know it’s one for the record books! In honor of Betty and the amazing female SNL alumni who joined her here are our favorite moments.

Betty Would Rather Poke in Person than on Facebook

Providing the generational comedy that many of us anticipated with Betty hosting, she began by making a solid case for staying off of Facebook and using the old “poking methods” from back in her day.  Betty thanked her fans on Facebook for getting her to the SNL stage via petition/fan page.  Her look was grand and her eyes bright.  Right from the start, it was evident that Betty White was going to kick ass on Saturday Night Live and take names later.

She’s Not Bluffin’ with her Muffin

Oh, yes, the infamous “Delicious Dish” segment starring Molly Shannon (as Teri Rialto) and Ana Gasteyer (as Margaret-Jo McCullen).  National Dietary Fiber Day was celebrated by chatting with “Muffin Mama” Florence Dusty – a.k.a. She’s a Lesbian!

Hearing Betty White exclaim, “She’s a lesbian!” more than ten times in the “Gingey” skit was better than the cast of Glee on steroids.  There is nothing like an 88-year-old saying, “Let her stay home and lez!”

Sally O’Malley Kicked It with Betty

She likes to “kick, stretch and kick!” and on Saturday evening, 50-year-old Sally O’Malley had someone to contend with – Betty’s 90-year-old character named Dotty.  AARP or not, Dotty showed all of us that even at 90-years-old, she can “stand, bend and sit!”

Census Schmensus

A 2010 Census worker (played by Tina Fey) knocked on the door of crotch-massaging Pacific Islander Blarfengar Blarfengar (Betty White) to get her stats.  While there, she encounters much more than anticipated (including an unsavory house “cat”).

Loretta McIntosh Channels the Wonderful Wizard of Wonka

Betty White (as Loretta McIntosh) and Kenan Thompson (as her grandson) took some time out of their very busy schedules to teach troubled youth how to appreciate the “little things” in life that they never received.  Examples included “Grandpa Joe” from Willy Wonka and the twister in Kansas from The Wizard of Oz.
