The magnificent musician and actor Bitch chats with SheWired’s Rachel Paulson about her upcoming release Blasted, the pain behind some of its lyrics, and just how she got the name ‘Bitch.’
A classically trained violinist, Bitch formerly and infamously played as a duo with Bitch and Animal, releasing their recordings on Ani DiFranco’s Righteous Babe Records. Now a solo artist, Bitch launched her own label, Short Story Records, in 2008.
In addition to mastering the likes of the ukulele and the bass, she is also a fearless actor who costarred in John Cameron Mitchell’s button-pushing exploration of sexuality in all its forms in his 2006 film Shortbus.
For her SheWired interview, she also weighs in on a few of her all-time favorite albums, the one song she must sing along to on the radio no matter who is in the car and she performs her version of the Bee Gees’ classic “Staying Alive” from Blasted – acoustically, on the ukulele, of course!
