Activist for the LGBT community and
Sex and the City star Cynthia Nixon is the
Advocate's summer cover girl in a spread that includes a thoughtful, revealing interview and stunning photos of the woman who's made Miranda Hobbs a household name.
Engaged to Christine Marinoni, Nixon has become a stalwart activist for marriage equality, especially in her home state of New York.
Her Advocate exclusive touches on meeting, falling in love with Marinoni and owning it publicly at the time of her rising star and after
coming out of a 15-year relationship with a man.
In one of her saucier quotes Nixon says of her partner:
"She's basically a short man with boobs. A lot of what I love about her is her butchness. I'm not saying I fell in love with her in a sexually neutral way. I love her sexuality-it's a big part of what I love about her-but I feel like it was her. It wasn't something in me that was waiting to come out. It was like, this person is undeniable. How can I let this person walk by? Christine would probably kill me for saying this, but my daughter said one time that if you really had to break this down, [it looks like] she would be butch and I would be femme...but really once you get to know us it's really the opposite."
With the big screen
Sex and the City 2 hitting theaters in just a few weeks Cynthia also touches on playing Miranda and on her beloved costars. But don't just take our word for it.
