Elisabeth Hasselbeck, often The View's resident conservative ideologue, said that she supports marriage equality, a position that she acknowledged would surprise some people. Although, she has been chummy with Melissa Etheridge in recent months, signaling she at least has gay friends.
Hasselbeck sat for a wide-ranging interview with Fancast, which asked the 33-year-old cohost to identify some common misperceptions about her.
“I actually support gay marriage,” said Hasselbeck. She added, “I think the gay marriage thing would definitely surprise people. I mean, for some people, it will surprise them to the point that they won’t want to hear it. ‘No, that can’t be, I really want to have this sort of idea of her in my head,’ so I sort of rain on their parade there.”
