Emmy Winner and Mariska's Pal Shohreh Aghdashloo is Headed to 'SVU'

Since Diane Neal left her post as D.A. on Law & Order: SVU a few years ago the series has stumbled to find a permanent match to fit the show's tone and to gel with stars Mariska Hargitay and Christopher Meloni. Really, considering the Olivia Benson / Alex Cabot (Stephanie March) mash-ups on YouTube, SVU fans are just aching for strong women to spar with and befriend Mariska’s Olivia.

For one episode, and this is going to be a tease, Emmy winner Shohreh Aghdashloo will appear on SVU as a ‘tough-but-fair’ investigator in the Brooklyn DA’s office, according to the Ausiello Files. And since The Good Wife's Kalinda (Archie Panjabi) is turning the investigator role into the hottest character type on TV there are high hopes for this guest spot. 

Shohreh, who starred in 24, The Stoning of Soraya M., The House of Sand and Fog and House of Saddam, met Mariska at the Emmy’s last year, and the pair hit it off, according to Ausiello. And that's all it took --well, that and her impressive résumé -- to land her a guest spot.

The episode is set to air in January.
